It seems overnight something called an Acai berry has begun to dominate the diet market. So, what is this thing, and what does it do?
The Acai berry is a fruit that comes from the Acai palm tree, native to Central America and South America. It’s purple in color and is a relative to cranberries and blueberries. Not ready for a full diet plan? That’s fine. You can drop a few pounds by just cutting out a few unnecessary calories. For the math-oriented (not us!), if you cut out 100 calories from your diet every day, you could lose 1 pound a month, with very little effort. Pretty cool. Here’s how to do it:
- Replace 1 cup of whole milk with skim milk – your coffee and tea won’t even notice.
- Use a light, whole grain bread for sandwiches instead of regular wheat. Tastes just as good, and adds healthy grains to your diet.
- Switch out your regular applesauce for unsweetened. The apples are still sweet, but it doesn’t have as much sugar.
- Eat 2 eggs poached instead of fried in butter or oil. Plus, cooking poached eggs is impressive.
- Replace your microwave popcorn with regular popcorn made in the microwave. It is possible!
These are just 5 quick suggestions. You can cut the calories in almost anything. Think about cutting the amount of butter, oil, jam, ketchup, and mayonnaise in half. Or start with 1/3 and go from there. You won’t notice the difference in the food, but your body will notice the reduction in calories.
