It seeks to address all aspects of your lifestyle, based on its 7 point plan. The whole thing is developed to suit the needs and desires of a stereotypical &#8220;Park Avenue&#8221; lifestyle &#8211; rich, thin and gorgeous. <p><strong>Food</strong></p>
<p>Obviously you can&#8217;t really call something a diet if it doesn&#8217;t include food information. In this regard the Park Avenue Diet is like many other low carb diets. Not as extreme as the Atkins Diet (Fischer worked for Atkins for years), it recommends a limited amount of complex carbohydrates. Menus also stress healthy fruits and vegetables as well as lean proteins.</p>
<p><strong>Drinking</strong></p>
<p>One aspect of the Park Avenue Diet that got a lot of attention when it launched in 2008 was the allowance for some alcohol. Dr. Fischer notes that a small amount of alcohol is good for your heart, and overindulgence can be made up for with exercise.</p>
<p><strong>I</strong><strong>mage Management</strong></p>
<p>The area of focus that differentiates the Park Avenue Diet from othes is that image management, skincare, hairstyle, attitude, and clothing are given equal weight to diet and weight loss in the plan. The idea is that improving all aspects of your image will increase self esteem, helping you to stick to the diet and exercise regimen.</p>
<p><strong>Cost</strong><br />
If you&#8217;re in the New York area you can visit the Park Avenue Diet Center, where you get three personal consultations covering all aspects of the program for just under $1,000. The book is only $25, you decide.</p>
<p>The Park Avenue Diet really does seem to be a whole life makeover plan. If you&#8217;re willing to make the commitment to the changes it recommends, we think it could work. However, we do have concerns about making such comprehensive changes without the one-on-one professional support.</p>

<p>The Acai berry is a fruit that comes from the Acai palm tree, native to Central America and South America. It&#8217;s purple in color and is a relative to cranberries and blueberries. The magic of the Acai berry lies in its antioxidant properties. <a href="http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/antioxidants.html" target="_blank">Antioxidants</a> are things that protect your cells from damage caused by free radicals. It is widely believed that a diet rich in antioxidants can slow the aging process and protect you from diseases. <span id="more-313"></span></p>
<p>What does all of that have to do with dieting? Well, that&#8217;s the question, really. The Acai berry is very good for you, but there&#8217;s no hard evidence to suggest that it will help you lose weight any more than any other healthy fruit rich in vitamins and fiber. Additionally, many of the ways companies recommend that you ingest Acai berries are practically useless. In order to get the full nutritional value, you have to get the juice and the pulp from the berry. However, most products that contain Acai berry just have the juice. That&#8217;s because the fruit is very expensive, especially if you don&#8217;t live near a region that it grows. </p>
<p>So, how can you use the Acai berry to help you lose weight? If you really want it, try purchasing frozen or dried Acai berries online or in your local health food store. Add them to a regular well-balanced healthy diet, in the way you would any fruit, and you&#8217;ll receive the benefits. They won&#8217;t make you lose weight on their own, but they are very good for your body in the long run. And be very careful where you buy them. If a website is selling some Acai extract or pills for a low price that&#8217;s because they&#8217;re mixing it with other things, and you&#8217;re not likely to get enough genuine Acai berry to have any effect.</p>

For the math-oriented (not us!), if you cut out 100 calories from your diet every day, you could lose 1 pound a month, with very little effort. Pretty cool. <strong>Here&#8217;s how to do it</strong>:</p>
<ol>
<li>Replace 1 cup of whole milk with skim milk &#8211; your coffee and tea won&#8217;t even notice.</li>
<li>Use a light, whole grain bread for sandwiches instead of regular wheat. Tastes just as good, and adds healthy grains to your diet.</li>
<li>Switch out your regular applesauce for unsweetened. The apples are still sweet, but it doesn&#8217;t have as much sugar.</li>
<li>Eat 2 eggs poached instead of fried in butter or oil. Plus, cooking poached eggs is impressive.</li>
<li>Replace your microwave popcorn with regular popcorn made in the microwave. <a href="http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/plain-brown-popper-recipe/index.html" target="_blank">It is possible</a>!</li>

<p>These are just 5 quick suggestions. You can cut the calories in almost anything. Think about cutting the amount of butter, oil, jam, ketchup, and mayonnaise in half. Or start with 1/3 and go from there. <strong>You won&#8217;t notice the difference in the food, but your body will notice the reduction in calories. </strong></p>

<p>In fact, did you know that most weight loss and diet pills contain green tea extract as a primary ingredient? The chances are that if you pick one up off a shelf you&#8217;ll find, along with caffeine and other &#8220;thermogenic&#8221; ingredients, green tea extract as one of the ingredients. However, are green tea weight loss pills all they’re made out to be, or just more hype?</p>
<p>One of the ingredients in green tea weight loss pills is a compound known as Epigallocatechin gallate, also referred to as EGCG. This has been shown to have anti-oxidant, anti-cancer, and anti-viral properties and is over 200 times more potent than vitamin E in fighting free radicals and pro-oxidants.<span id="more-20"></span></p>
<p>Studies have also shown that the EGCG in green tea weight loss pills can affect body fat accumulation and cholesterol levels positively. The results indicate that green tea weight loss pills can speed up your metabolism and helps burn calories as well as lowering your bad cholesterol levels, and has an effect on your level of body fat. An earlier study supported this by concluding that &#8220;green tea has thermogenic properties and promotes fat oxidation beyond that explained by its caffeine content per se.&#8221;</p>
<p>A key benefit of green tea weight loss pills is that they help thermogenesis, which is the burning of calories, without causing jitters and other unwanted side effects. Supplements that contain Ephedra, on the other hand, are also as effective, if not more effective at speeding up the metabolism, but can have very dangerous side effects. Ephedra has been linked to strokes, heart attacks and even death in some users.</p>
<p>While green tea weight loss pills do contain caffeine, it doesn’t have the same effect. Theanine, which is the main amino acid in green tea weight loss pills, seems to minimize the effects of caffeine, which is why the caffeine in green tea doesn’t seem to cause jitters and an increased heart rate the way that caffeine in other beverages can.</p>
<p>Although some claim that the effect of green tea weight loss pills on reducing body fat is minimal, a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition showed that green tea doubled the fat loss in subjects and concluded that green tea is an effective method for shedding fat, particularly in the mid-section. Recent studies have also shown strong evidence for the role of green tea weight loss pills in lowering body fat.</p>
<p>Green tea weight loss pills come in standardized tablets or capsules. For best results, choose a green tea weight loss pill that contains 300 to 500 milligrams of green tea extract, which will also include caffeine. It is usually taken two or three times a day before meals.</p>
<p>While the green tea weight loss pill is not a magic bullet it is something I recommend strongly for its many health benefits. However, if you want to lose some serious pounds, relying on a single supplement such as green tea weight loss pills will never be enough. Rather, your focus should be on polishing up your diet and exercising regularly in order to boost your metabolism and burn the fat.</p>
